To compare and evaluate the fracture resistance of endodontically treated molars reinforced with various bonded restorations and to study the type of fractures in various restorations. Methods: Forty extracted mandibular molars were endodontically treated. MOD (Mesio-Occluso-Distal) cavities were prepared and Mesio-Buccal cusp was reduced in all to provide cuspal coverage. All the teeth were then divided into 4 groups. The cavities in group 1(control) were filled with high copper amalgam. Group 2 was restored with direct resin composite. In group 3 after the priming and bonding procedures as in group 2, cavity surfaces were coated with flowable resin composite. Before curing a piece of polyethylene ribbon fiber was cut and coated with adhesive resin and was embedded inside the flowable composite. The resin composite was cured with visible light cure (VLC) gun. For group 4, restorations were done according to the recommendations provided by the manufacturers of SR Adoro (Ivoclar-Vivadent, Schaan, Liechtenstein) composite material. Compressive fracture strength test was performed after at least 24 hours of the fabrication of the specimens, by application of compressive loading in a Universal testing machine, applied on the occlusal aspect of each specimen with a steel bar. The mean loads necessary to fracture were recorded in Newton and the results were statistically analyzed. Results: Group 4 (indirect composite inlay) had the greater fracture resistance and group 1(Amalgam) had the poorest. Difference between group 1 and 3, group 1 and 4, group 2 and 4 were statistically significant. No statistically significant difference was found between group 1 and 2, group 2 and 3, group 3 and 4. Predominant type of fracture in group 1 and 3 was fracture of tooth below cemento enamel junction at tooth restoration interface without mesio buccal cusp involvement. In group 2 and 4, predominant fractures were of tooth below cemento enamel junction through center of restoration without mesio-buccal cusp involvement.Keywords

Chronic illnesses and the financial burden imposed because of illness has been a major concern for policy makers in health sector. Cancer is among the top ones in the list of chronic illnesses especially in northern India. To combat the financial burden of cancer on society government has launched various empanelment schemes. Keeping in mind the importance of awareness regarding various schemes a research was conducted with topic "A quasi experimental study to assess the effect of structured teaching programme regarding empanelment schemes among student nurses in Mohan Dai Oswal college of nursing in Ludhiana. Objectives for the study were 1. To assess the pretest knowledge regarding empanelment schemes among students nurses in Mohan Dai Oswal College of nursing. 2. To assess the post test knowledge score regarding empanelment schemes among student nurses in Mohan Dai Oswal College of nursing. 3. To compare the pretest and post test knowledge score among the student nurses of Oswal College of nursing.4. To assess the relationship between the effectiveness of the structured teaching programme with selected variables. sample size was 60. A self structured questionnaire was developed to assess pre and post test knowledge score of student nurses. Results revealed that in pre test maximum 48(80%) of the subjects were having average knowledge while 10(16.6%) had poor knowledge followed by 2(3.3%) had good knowledge regarding empanelment schemes. No significant relationship was found with selected variables like age, year of class, type of course, parents education, type of job etc.

The channel estimation techniques for OFDM systems based on pilot arrangement are investigated. The channel estimation based on comb type pilot arrangement is studied through different algorithms for both estimating channel at pilot frequencies and interpolating the channel. The estimation of channel at pilot frequencies is based on LS and LMS while the channel interpolation is linear interpolation, second order interpolation, low-pass interpolation, spline cubic interpolation, and time domain interpolation. Time-domain interpolation is obtained by passing to time domain through IDFT, zero padding and going back to frequency domain through DFT. In addition, the channel estimation based on block type pilot arrangement is performed by sending pilots at every sub-channel and using this estimation for a specific number of following symbols. We have also implemented decision feedback equalizer for all sub-channels followed by periodic block-type pilots. We have compared the performances of all schemes by measuring bit error rate with 16QAM, QPSK, DQPSK and BPSK as modulation schemes, and multipath rayleigh fading and AR based fading channels as channel models.Keywords

The future wireless mobile communication systems will be required to support high-speed transmission rate. Direct sequence code-division multiple access (DS-CDMA) and multicarrier (MC- CDMA) are two important CDMA schemes for high rate wireless communication. Multi-carrier code division multiple access (MCCDMA) has been considered as a strong candidate for next generation wireless communication system due to its excellent performance in multi-path fading channel and simple receiver structure. However, like all the multi-carrier transmission technologies such as OFDM, the inter-carrier interference (ICI) produced by the frequency offset between the transmitter and receiver local oscillators or by Doppler shift due to high mobility causes significant BER (bit error rate) performance degradation in MC-CDMA system. Many ICI cancellation methods such as windowing and frequency domain coding have been proposed in the literature to cancel ICI and improve the BER performance for multi-carrier transmission technologies. In this paper, my main objective is to evaluate the Inter channel Interference which include the Signal to Interference Ratio (SIR) and Inter Carrier Interference (ICI) in a MC DS CDMA wireless system.Keywords

The science of Implantology has undergone numerous modifications and improvement and is highly dynamic. With each improvement and advancement, Implantology has proved to be a boon in disguise to the society and hence its acceptance by the general population has widely increased despite of expensive treatment modality. More of clinical trials conducted on different commercially available implants, its effect on bone and oral tissues as well as the development of implant designs, have increased the success rate of implants to over 95% and specially in anterior mandible where the success rate is over 99%. Latest technological advances in Dental Implantology are reviewed in this article.Keywords
